Structural-functional Analysis

From the biological opinion, sex permits our species to have children. However, culture and social establishments control with whom and when people reproduce. For instance, most communities denounce married individuals who engage in sex with someone other than spouse. To permit the forces of sexual intimacy to go unchecked would intimidate family life, particularly the upbringing of children. The reality that incest taboo is alive everywhere depicts clearly that no civilization allows a completely free option of sexual partners would shatter the kinship scheme and terribly confuses human association. Historically, the communal control of sexuality was tough, typically because sex often led to childbirth. We see these controls at work in the old-fashioned difference between “lawful” reproduction (in marriage) and “unlawful” reproduction (out of marriage).

However, once the humanity develops the skill to manage births, its sexual standards become more lenient. This happened in the United States, where during the course of the 20th century, sex stimulated beyond its essential reproductive purpose and became mainly an outline of intimacy and even leisure. As of December 2007, America has been in an economic recession and by analyzing structural-functional analysis in society we can begin to understand the cause and effects of this recession and better see how recession has affected how people reproduce (Ballantine & Roberts, 2010).

It is easy to depict how people have resorted to prostitution, which is damaging because it multiplies disease and abuse women. This is due to the economic recession. People started to find a way of making money out the social establishment, with prostitution coming along. When recession was first experienced, many shun the norms of essential reproductive systems, and instead turn it into money minting business.

Symbolic-interaction analysis

Almost all social patterns involving sexuality saw a lot of change over the course of the 20th century. One good case study is the altering importance of virginity. A century earlier, our community’s norm-for women, at minimal was virginity before marriage. This standard was sturdy because there was no successful means of birth management, and virginity was the only guarantee. A man had that bride to be was not considering another man’s child.

Nowadays, because we have advanced toward untying sex from reproduction, the virginity norm has weakened considerably. In the US, among people born between 1963 and 1974, just 16.3 % of men and 20.1 % of woman statement being virgins at initial marriage. Likewise to economical terms which were initially kept untouched, but during the economic recession everything and everyone was in a state of confusion. People had to change principles and norms in order to cope with the situation. Eventually, the symbolic interaction was vastly affected by the economic recession.

A century earlier, infancy was a time of purity in sexual matters. In modern decades, however, thinking has changed. Although few people encourage sexual activity between the youth, the majority of people believe that offspring should be knowledgeable about sex so that they can make smart choices about their behavior, as they grow older.

Social-conflict and feminist analysis

Prostitution is an activity forbidden nearly all over in our society. Enforcement of prostitution regulations is irregular at best, especially when it comes to who is and is not probable to be arrested. Gender prejudice is obvious here. Though two people are caught up, the record reveals that law enforcement is far more probable to arrest female prostitutes (less influential) than male customers (more influential). It evident here that we are living in a feminist society where one class is favored than the other class. Class disparity too, is involved: It is street dwellers – women with the least earnings and most probable to be minorities, who face the highest danger of arrest. A feminist approach also guides us to query whether many women would be caught up in prostitution in the first place if they were given economic chances equal to those of men. Economic recession has also led to such situation over the past decade.

Once more, those with minimal power, women contrasted with men, people of color contrasted with whites, and gays and lesbians contrasted to heterosexuals. In this perspective, sexuality, a normal part of human existence, is used by society to define some people as less worthy. Like feminism, these people may not contribute well to the society due to restrictions they face, and they are the most affected in society. When recession occurred, the vulnerable members of the society were the most affected in the society.

During the recession, along with jobs being consumed by foreign people, and those sideline people making less money, the authorities started escalading taxes and the cost of living persisted to skyrocket. With the feminine making less money, they had no money to meet tax requirement. On the other side, those masculine people who were accumulating money felt singled out in a sense because they had to meet more taxes. They experienced it was unjust they had remit so much while those earning less money did not have to remit almost as much. With this experience of unfair treatment, those earning money started to despise the authority, and individuals who were not remitting to the society. Just like a body, if the resistant system commences to turn on itself, then the person happens to be ill, and can in the end die. With this conflict in feminine in America against the masculine in America and the government, the system was headed off balance, and helped guide America into the economic recession (Weitzel, 2000).

Sexuality: creating social inequality

If men describe women in sexual provisions, it is simple to see pornography roughly all of which is devoured by males, as a power subject. Since pornography characteristically depicts women as focused on satisfying men, it is for the idea that men have authority over women. Therefore, it follows that women are dependent on men in all matters even financial well being (Macionis, 2010). During the recession, these limitations became gradually more evident, the fight for equal rights gave rise to a “fresh feminism,” and study that emerged from understanding that the woman’s place is socially structured. The underprivileged was the mostly vastly affected by the economic recession.

In my experience, I have seen effects of this recession and understand now more than ever how being a masculine/feminine society can be a good thing. It is bad because when money being spent that is not available, jobs are missed, more money is misplaced, spending the lesser, and then things like economic recession occur. Ina feminine society, more people are dependent on others. The effects that I have individually experienced are the impacts that it has had on my relatives. My sister has her own candy shop, and when she was not on recession, she had plenty of dealings and was generating enough cash to pay taxes, our bills, and have more for her own use. Now recession has taken toll on her earnings and has minimal business that can hardly pay bills, the remittances, and she no longer have no extra money.

American recession, these enormous and negligible changes worked against America, and resulted in difficult times that will take ages, knowledge, and hard labour to eradicate. This brought along with culture destruction, family disability, and worst of all cases prostitution and same sex marriages.
