How did Jefferson's views regarding blacks and Native Americans differ?

American history cannot be explored without referring or acknowledging Jefferson due to his great contribution. One of his notable contributions is proving instrumental in formulating the principles that became the fundamental of the American nation-state. Jefferson believed that there was no intellectual, cultural, or even physical difference among blacks, Native Americans and men. He also perceived difference in that black people in bondage occupied a place else where than America while Native American did not.

Jefferson noted that these variations were associated with the concomitant hostilities between the two races worked against the cohabitation after the liberation of blacks but also beside their intermarriage. According Jefferson the “amalgamation” would lead to degrade of whites by an inferior race of blacks. Jefferson also determined that these differences were serious barriers to the peaceful co-existence of whites and blacks following emancipation. He, also reviewed that the experience of slavery to be unfavorable to race relations. It is also clear that slavery which is highly associated with oppression have contributed to the degraded conditions of black people in subjugation, he pointed its effect as one producing enmity in blacks toward whites because of all the suffering and mistreat they had been exposed to while under slavery.

What accounts for the difference, according to historian Ronald Takaki in Source 1?

According to Ronald Takaki, there is need to approach these groups from multicultural perspective and comparatively analyze their experiences so as develop clear understanding of their differences. One of the factors which accounts for difference is race, which is believed to be a social construction that has traditionally separated minorities from European immigration groups. However some scholars like Nathan Glazer and Thomas Sowell, are of view that race in America has not been having great impact as ethnicity. Also when this comparison is done in broad approach, it is possible to see how different experiences of various races and ethnic group happen within a shared context.

These differences have attributed most of America’s serious crisis like civil war which is highly associated with racial issue. In his First Inaugural Address, presented on March 4, 1861, President Abraham Lincoln noted in his inaugural speech which he made on march, 18961, that at that time there was one section of our country which believed slavery was right and wanted it to be extended, while at the same time there was another group knew it was wrong and did not want it to be extended. The president continued to explain that southern secession, ought to be anarchy. Lincoln sternly on the other hand argued that Americans were one people, and were bound together by factors like; the mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to each living heart and hearthstone everywhere in the broad land

Finally, we can generally conclude by considering how we view prospect for "working out" America's racial crisis. We ask ourselves whether we see it as through a glass darkly or as televised images of racial detestation and violence that fascinated people in 1992 during the days of rage in Los Angeles frame a future of discordant race relations. It is clear that whatever goes on, it is certain that much of our society's future will be influenced by the way we perceive and anticipate things. It should be noted that America does not belong to a particular race or group, as often emphasized by scholar of this field.
